Sweeter Song Farm Cedar, Michigan Jim Schwantes and Judy Reinhardt, Farmers Sweeter Song Farm is a certified organic Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)farm located in the heart of beautiful Leelanau County. We have over 115 shares (168 families, as some members share their shares). Our price for an 18-week premium share is $470 (please see Membership Information for more detailed price information.) We encourage on-farm pickup, although we do provide a Traverse City box delivery option. On-farm pickup includes a "buffet style" pickup where members pack their own bags of fresh, cooled produce and offers members the opportunity to talk with the farmers, choose specific vegetables from the buffet offerings, buy additional vegetables, bring children and grandchildren to walk the fields and visit with the farm animals, pick up additional products, pick any herbs they might need, and enjoy the "community" and sharing with other members. (Please see Typical Week's Produce Basket for weekly pickup examples.) Our 80 acre farm is comprised of 55 acres of protected wetlands, 4 ponds, 15 acres of grass cultivation and 10 acres of vegetable and fruit production. We grow a large variety of vegetables as well as strawberries, melons, pears and grapes which are included in the share. Annual and perennial herbs are also plentiful and members are encouraged to pick as needed. In addition, shareholders have the option to purchase other items including Sweeter Song Farm products like eggs, honey, flowers, and pastured pork, as well as products from neighboring farms such as shiitake mushrooms, pasture-raised beef, organic chickens, and maple syrup. Higher Grounds Coffee is also available. Shares for the 2012 season are available. If you are interested in joining us or would like additional information, please feel free to email or call us.
