We're glad you found us!

Providence Farm is owned and operated by Ryan and Andrea Romeyn.  Ryan has been farming since 1998 and operating a CSA since 2002, previously at the Wagbo Peace Center in East Jordan.  We are entering into our 3rd growing season at our own property just outside of Eastport, (1 mile east of US 31 at Eastport, on M-88, at the top of a hill on the right.)

Rayn and I are committed to growing our food using sustainable farming practices. We use organic soil ammendments and pest control, crop rotation and cover cropping. We test our soils and ammend according to recommendations with compost being the primary ingredient.  We are applying for the USDA organic label on our strawberries and vegetables for 2010.

Our happy c.s.a. member is showing us just part of his share one day in October.  Members brought home two different varieties (their choice) winter squash, leeks, sweet onions, carrots, potatoes, a jack-0-lantern, pie pumpkin, melon, rainbow chard and lettuce mix.  (The c.s.a. ended in October, but we still sell many items at the indoor Saturday markets at the Commons in Traverse City and at the former Kiss Carpet building by O'Brien Reality in downtown Boyne City.)

Our weekly vegetable CSA program serves over 150 families and lasts 18 weeks from the third week of June to mid-October.  We provide over 70 varieties of in-season vegetables in quantities of about 5 pounds the first week to over 20 pounds by late summer.  For an idea of what will be in your box on any given week, click on "Newsletters" to the left.  Each weekly newsletter lists what is in your share and includes recipes.

Shareholders can choose between a medium sized-share appropriate for one to four people depending on vegetable use.  (Sometimes couples will share a med. share) or a large sized share for 5-8 people to share.  For an idea of what is in a share, click on "shares" to the left.

Shareholders can pick-up their share at our farm (Tuesdays or Fridays 4:30-6:pm) or sign-up for Saturday delivery to Traverse City's downtown farm market or Boyne City's farm market (8-12:pm), Tuesday evening delivery to Petoskey or East Jordan, or Thursday delivery to Charlevoix.

We have already begun collection applications for 2010.  Your timely deposit not only reserves your spot but literally enables us to purchase the seeds, tools and labor we need in the spring.  And, yes, we still have openings for 2010!

Please keep in mind that we sold out of shares early last year!  Click on "registration form" on the left of this page to get a registration form.

[Click here to view full size picture] In addition to vegetable shares, we also offer organic strawberries and our own naturally raised pork, as well as blueberries, chicken and turkey from other local family farms that we have built relationships with. Please note, you do not have to be a vegetable csa member to order pork, berries, chicken and turkey from us!  Our pork is processed in late Autumn, and yes, we still have sides available.

Building our new home and business in this area of northern Michigan has been a tremendous blessing.  We get to get our hands into our good farm soil, meet simply wonderful neighbors and shareholders, and play in Torch or Lake Michigan when it gets too hot!

Thanks for visiting our website!
