                                                      Spring Share!
The spring share is a revelry in greens.  Starting at the end of March and going through May the spring share is full of vibrant, delicious greens from our 2 unheated hoophouses.  We also include some overwintered root cellar crops, overwintered field dug beauties like parsnips and jerusalem artichokes and also our own asparagus and rhubarb plus fresh herbs.  We also include a pint of fresh maple syrup.  The spring share starts as an every other week share, but moves to an every week share in May as the greens grow so quickly we can barely keep up.  The weekly shares are smaller in quantity so as not to be too overwhelming but signing up for a spring share is a commitment to feeding your winter starved body fresh greens.  The spring share is limited and we will post on this site when it's full.  First come, first served!  Greens included are big quantities of spinach, head lettuce, salad mix, rainbow chard, kale and assorted asian greens for braising and stir fry.  See the harvest plan below for more details.  To get a feel for a spring share, check out one of the spring newsletters in the left hand menu on homepage.

The above are meant as examples.  The contents of your box will fluctuate throughout the summer depending on weather and availability.  An every other week share looks like the above  delivered every other week.  Standard and every other week shares are delivered in 3/4 bushel boxes.  Premium shares are in 1 bushel boxes and include a lot of the above examples with 1# salad mix plus the first of the garden's treats as they come into season;  premiums receive first sugar snap peas, first heirloom tomatoes, first ripe cantaloupe, cherry tomatoes and "salsa packs" of tomatilloes, jalapenoes and cilantro.

Fresh, Local Food for All

Meadowlark Farm is committed to providing healthy food to as many local people as possible. We have a lovely working relationship with the Fresh Food Partnership and through them, the Leelanau Christian Neighbors. Every week through the season we provide a diverse selection of fresh veggies to the food pantry in Suttons Bay. They in turn serve over 200 families in need.  The economy has forced many more families into using food pantries for their families' food supply and we expect the need next year to be even greater.

We also offer Solidarity Shares which are funded through shareholder's donations. Last year we distributed  solidarity shares to  5  local families.  Give what you can to support these shares!  Fresh food should be a right, not a privelage....
