SHARES ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR 2012

JUST THE FACTS, FOLKS:

  • Season: at least 18 weeks, up to 22 weeks, weather permitting, beginning in early June
  • Share size: A share will feed a family of four, or 2-3 veggie lovers.
  • Membership cost: $550 per share (plus a $30 packing/handling fee for Sat. Farmers' Market pick-ups).
  • Pick-up locations: on-farm (Tues afternoon) or at the Sat. downtown TC farmers' market, OR home delivery by our friend David in his fry-oil-fueled truck! Details on home delivery available soon.
  • Work requirement? No, but one work share is available (4 hrs/week).
  • Volunteering: Encouraged! We LOVE volunteers of all ages and abilities.
  • Agricultural practices: We use organic methods, but are not certified.
  • We will host an in-person pre-season member meeting, to answer your questions and get to know each other, once everyone’s signed up.

CSA SHARE NUTS AND BOLTS:

What's in a share?   We aim for 6-10 different crops per week, and include an email newsletter with a list of that week’s items, farm news, and recipes.  See the availability guide for an estimate of what you may see in your share throughout the season.

To become a member:  Print out, fill in and sign the 2012 membership contract, and write a check, payable to Birch Point Farm, for the full $550 (or $580), or a $275 deposit.  Up to 50 total shares are available for 2012.  Balances will be due by April 30.

Picking up your share: once a week, either Tuesday afternoon/evening at the farm or the Saturday morning Farmers’ Market downtown Traverse City. For Sat. pick-up only: if you cannot make it to market, we'll drop your share off at a pre-determined location, to be picked up later that day – let us know if you have a cool, shady spot to offer!

Half Shares?  No half shares here. We want to keep it simple for now.  If you cannot eat a whole share in one week, we encourage you to freeze, can, or dry the extras for delicious locally-grown produce all winter!  You are also welcome to split your share with anyone you like; just organize it amongst yourselves, and send us one check (we can send e-newsletters to as many people as you like, though. Just supply emails.)

Extra Add-ons-- We'll take orders from members for extras like Birch Point honey, Higher Grounds coffee, maple syrup, and organic blueberries and apples from local orchards, throughout the season.
